Redact Aadhaar

Cover Aadhaar numbers on letters, KYC copies, and scans. Confirm the preview so the full 12 digits — and anything else on the card — sit inside a shape before you download.

  1. 1Upload the PDF or image that shows the Aadhaar number.
  2. 2Confirm auto-detected matches in PDF text, or draw a shape over images and scans.
  3. 3Check the QR code and photo too, then download the redacted file.

Frequently asked questions

Can AnyRedact find an Aadhaar number?

In PDF text it looks for 12-digit Aadhaar patterns, usually printed in three groups of four. You must still check every page, including any VID (virtual ID) printed alongside it.

Can I redact an Aadhaar card photo?

Upload the image and draw a rectangle, circle, or polygon over the number, the QR code, and any barcode you need covered. Detection only runs on PDF text, not on photos.

Is masking only the first eight digits enough?

UIDAI's own masked Aadhaar shows only the last four digits and hides the first eight — matching that convention is safer than the reverse. If you're unsure which digits should stay visible, cover the whole number.

What else appears alongside an Aadhaar number that I should check?

Name, address, date of birth, gender, and a photo usually sit on the same card or page. Decide upfront whether you need to redact those too, not just the 12-digit number.

Where does Aadhaar commonly show up in documents?

KYC packets, rental agreements, SIM card and bank onboarding forms, and government scheme applications are the most common places. It's easy to miss a copy pasted into page two or three of a longer PDF, so review every page.
