Frequently asked questions
How do I redact a PDF with AnyRedact?
Upload the PDF, open each page thumbnail, draw rectangle, circle, or polygon covers, confirm the page, then download a final PDF after email verification.
Can I change the order of PDF pages?
Yes. Use Rearrange pages on the thumbnail grid, then drag pages into the order you want in the downloaded file.
Does AnyRedact keep my PDF?
No. Your PDF is never uploaded — it's opened, redacted, and exported entirely in your browser. Only your account (email and usage count) lives on our server; the document itself never does.
Does redacting with a black box actually remove the text?
In AnyRedact, yes — the download is a flattened PDF made of page images with your covers painted on, so there is no selectable text underneath. This is different from drawing a black rectangle on top of text in a word processor, which can leave the original text copyable underneath.
Can I redact a scanned PDF that has no text layer?
Yes. AnyRedact treats every page as an image you can draw on. Automatic detection only works where a PDF has real text, so on scans you place every cover yourself — review each page carefully before confirming it.
Does redaction change the PDF's page size or quality?
Pages are re-rendered at a resolution high enough to keep text and images readable in the download. If you also use Rearrange pages, the page order changes but page content and covers stay exactly as you set them.
